The implementation of the [Ont]Regel de Zorg (Deregulate the Healthcare) e-learning was a challenging process, but achieving the coveted A-status was a significant milestone! Together with our team, we worked diligently on the platform adjustments, in close collaboration with Rob, a Moodle expert, and Sebastian from Sebsoft, our hosting provider.

Together, we tackled the challenges of enhancing the platform to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.”- Ellen Koedam (Functional Manager Elevate).

Overcoming Accessibility Challenges

The greatest challenge we faced was meeting the WCAG 2.1 AA standard, particularly due to Moodle’s limited digital accessibility. It required a thorough revision and adjustment of various aspects to achieve the desired level of accessibility. Despite these challenges, we succeeded in enhancing the platform and delivering a high-quality learning experience.

Collaborative Efforts for Improvement

To meet all accessibility requirements, we relied on previous audit reports from Swink, the party responsible for auditing the e-learning’s accessibility. We closely listened to their feedback, which was invaluable in identifying improvement areas and implementing effective solutions. Sebsoft ensured the e-learning was hosted online and also assisted in making it accessible. The collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport generally proceeded smoothly. We held regular meetings to ensure our work aligned with the specified requirements and expectations.

The result of our efforts was evident in the evaluation of the e-learning, with a focus on meeting accessibility requirements. These meticulous efforts ultimately led to the coveted A-status, recognizing our commitment to digital accessibility and quality.

Moving forward, we will continue to strive for improvement and innovation, ensuring the accessibility of our e-learning and consistently pursuing the highest standards of quality and user-friendliness.
