Elevate is working with the Security department at Utrecht University to implement microlearnings that support continuous learning from onboarding to daily work.
The Security department team – part of the Facilities Service Center at Utrecht University – has reached out to Elevate to make a series of microlearnings. The goal is to support continuous learning and development for security staff, starting from the moment they are hired, through the onboarding process, and continuing into their daily work.
In the current situation, a two-week onboarding period includes the use of a handbook and a written test. The team would like to maintain this approach, but they are looking for an additional solution to ensure long-term knowledge retention.
Elevate believes in a low-threshold solution, where we combine the capabilities of the in-house ULearning platform with a scheduled email campaign. This user-friendly online solution aligns well with the available resources, existing infrastructure, and the capacity within the Security department team. Employees will receive access to small microtrainings at pre-scheduled intervals, each focusing on a new and relevant theme. Through an email campaign containing a direct link to the training, employees will be consistently guided back to the learning platform.
Each training will focus on real-life workplace dilemmas, maximizing the transfer of knowledge to the job and ensuring that the knowledge gained during onboarding is retained. By incorporating quiz questions, supervisors will gain a clear view of their employees’ current knowledge levels. The purpose of the microlearnings is to use the results to determine which topics are well understood and which topics require more attention.
The collaboration has been running exceptionally smoothly, thanks to a highly efficient workflow developed in partnership with the client. Elevate’s Instructional Designer has taken the lead in developing the case studies, gathering the necessary information and transforming it into well-crafted materials, which are then reviewed by Utrecht University. This approach has allowed us to streamline the process, optimizing both parties’ time and resources. The client’s responsiveness and swift decision-making have greatly contributed to this success, ensuring excellent progress and results for all involved.
