All the partners in the ONCOVALUE consortium were present at The Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam to kick off our ambitious project to help bring valuebased cancer care to hospitals in Europe. The host during this important day was Prof. Valesca Retel from the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
In the coming four years we will be working with data, AI technology and incredibly talented and motivated people to help sustainably improve cancer care throughout Europe.
A collective of cancer institutes and commercial companies will work together to help improve cost-efficiency, treatment efficacy and patient outcomes in cancer treatment based on better data assessment, collection and interpretation to collaborate throughout Europe and the world.
ONCOVALUE is commited to ensuring data and knowledge is shared to ensure everyone involved in cancer treatment can deliver the best health care. This will mean decisions on medication and treatment will be made based on data that take into consideration how it affects the patient, what the cost will be and if there is a scientific ground for that decision.
New and expensive medications come available to treat advanced cancers. We want to help hospitals and healthcare payers assess which patients benefit from them and how they affect their quality of life. Smart technology like AI will help standardize and automate processes and lower workload. To ensure every patient receives personalised treatment we actively share knowledge and findings through training of European Cancer Centres and dissemination.
“Elevate is one of the main consortium partners in the recently submitted ONCOVALUE Horizon Europe project proposal and has played an integral role in setting up the educational elements of this ambitious project. Throughout the project, Elevate will be primarily responsible for the development of online training activities and guidelines to educate and train both clinicians and HTA experts in the management of real world data. These activities are a fundamental part of achieving the project’s goal of creating an AI-based framework for real-time assessment of the effectiveness of new cancer therapies in practice.”
