Elevate is proud to announce that as of August 1, 2019 Jacques Eijkens is appointed non-executive director and chair of the Elevate Board. He succeeds Rick Grobbee as chair.
Rick Grobbee, professor of clinical epidemiology and distinguished University professor of international health sciences and global health, is one of the founding fathers of Elevate and came up with the idea for a new, innovative way of education from the UMC Utrecht in 2012. On October 1st 2013, Elevate was born as a spin-off from the UMC Utrecht Julius Center in order to develop online education to practitioners and researchers in Health Care and Life Sciences. Elevate’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of health worldwide.

After 5 years Rick Grobbee will be handing over his presidency to Jacques Eijkens. Rick will stay involved as a member of the Advisory Board. Jacques Eijkens can assist Elevate in continued innovation and further achieving its national and international ambitions. Jacques has a commercial background and started his management career at the educational publisher Malmberg b.v. After several years of different management roles, he became CEO of the international Sanoma Learning division. He developed an international business strategy and acquired companies in different European countries. As member of the Board of Sanoma Holding he guided the company to a transition towards a digital business model.
In 2015 Jacques Eijkens left Sanoma Holding and works as a consultant and coach for organizations in the learning and media industry. With his extensive experience both nationally and internationally he is perfectly fit to help Elevate build its portfolio of innovative products and services, build sustainable business models and support an entrepreneurial culture within the growing Elevate team.
