Recent mega-trends, such as the rapidly ageing population, deteriorating conditions in urban areas and the looming threat of climate change, have had consequences on human health and stress levels. They do not only negatively influences human lives, but also drive up costs for the public welfare and healthcare sectors. Combined with the increased immigration that goes accompanied by a growing pressure on the EU’s inclusion policies, vulnerable people are at risk of social exclusions and marginalization.
Cost-effective, nature-based solutions, such as social agriculture, urban green infrastructure and forest therapy can be useful in tackling these mega-trends. This Erasmus+ project was established together with 12 other partners in the agriculture, green care and (mental) health domains, until the end of 2022. Here, the goal is to increase Europe’s innovation capacity among universities and businesses by promoting green and natural approaches to health and social care. For this, the sharing of knowledge in social health and environment, a blended training program and the promotion of sustainable entrepreneurship will be vital outputs from this project.
As an expert in the development of e-learning with a background in healthcare, Elevate’s contribution is two-fold and highly valued. This is emphasized from our experiences in previous Erasmus+ projects, proven to be useful. Elevate will contribute to this project by developing blended learning modules in the social agriculture, forest therapy, green for therapy & social entrepreneurship areas. For this a total of 5 online modules will be developed, and will be made sustainable to guarantee their availability after the completion of the project. Moreover, they will be disseminated to a broad audience.
