How can medical innovations be evaluated at an early stage?

28 February, 2023

The VICI-grant initiated by Prof. dr. Maroeska Rovers (RadboudUMC, Evidence Based Surgery and Scientific Director TechMed Center University Twente) marks the final stage.

Maroeska Rovers, Professor of Evidence Based Surgery, received a Vici research grant of 1.5 million euros from NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research). The Vici grant is one of the largest individual scientific prizes in the Netherlands.

Maroeska Rovers is Professor of Evidence-based Surgery at Radboud University Medical Center. It is her ambition to contribute to the development of effective, affordable, and valuable surgical innovations.

What is the main goal for this project?

An exciting new project we are currently working on is the development of educational materials around early evaluation of (medical) innovations. Initiated by Prof. dr. Maroeska Rovers (RadboudUMC, Evidence Based Surgery and Scientific Director TechMed Center University Twente) the project marks the final stage of her VICI-grant focussing on evaluating surgical innovations as early as possible. This is done by early modeling and involving all stakeholders. The materials will be made available online for all interested later this year.
