Cardiothoracic surgery courses

The next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons will be trained in this new technique, which is set to improve the lives of patients all around the world. This consists of two courses: a foundation Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) and the Elana Heart Bypass System.

The Elana Heart Bypass System

The Elana Heart Bypass System is applicable both in open chest and totally endoscopic procedure setting without the need of stopping the heart for even a moment.

Approximately a million patients could be helped with this new technique. Every year patients undergo highly invasive heart bypass surgery with long recovery times and serious complications.

Our technique is aiming heart bypass surgery to be performed through small holes in the chest. No split ribcage. No heart-lung machine. Not even sutures.

Therefore, we move on to the first clinical phase, where the Elana Heart Bypass System is used in an open chest setting.

AMT Medical is a Netherlands-based clinical-stage medical device company with one dream: to make coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) a safer, less invasive procedure for all eligible patients worldwide. The company is pioneering a new, life-saving technique for CABG, the Elana Heart Bypass System. The Elana Heart Bypass System draws inspiration from the successful Elana Brain Solution, pioneered by Elana B.V. The Heart Bypass is being put into clinical practice by The St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands, and The University Hospital Charité in Berlin, Germany.

AMT Medical co-created these two e-learnings together with Elevate. AMT Medical brought the knowledge about the cardiothoracic surgery techniques through different known experts. Elevate brought knowledge about didactics and creating a professional e-learning.

“What do we need from an innovation? We just need standardized techniques that are very easy and fast. An important condition is that the outcome of using a connector is equivalent to open hand sewed CABG surgery, which we used for years with excellent outcomes”

Dr. Bart van Putte
