Choosing a course
1 . Why would I choose an online Elevate course?
Elevate's guided online health courses offer you more choices to customize your medical education based on your strengths, needs and interests. However, course content and the average study workload will be similar to an identical face-to-face course. You will have 24/7 access to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which makes it convenient to study simultaneously with a busy career and social life.
2 . How do I apply and how does the enrollment procedure work?
Please click on the blue 'enroll' button on the specific course page. You will be directed to our online enrollment system. After successful application, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment. After we've received your payment, the e-moderator will give you access to the Virtual Learning Environment before the course starts.
3 . What are the entry requirements for the courses?
The entry requirements vary per course. Please see the specific course page and click on the drop down menu ''Entry Requirements''.
4 . Are there language requirements?
All online medical courses will be taught in English. To successfully participate in the courses, sufficient proficiency in English reading and writing is required.
5 . Which countries do participants come from?
Participants from all over the world join the Elevate online health courses.
6 . What is the enrollment deadline?
This varies for each course. The specific enrollment deadline for your preferred course is listed on the course page.
7 . I have applied for a course, when will I receive more information?
The institute that provides the course will review your application to see if you meet the course requirements. The e-moderator will give you access to the Virtual Learning Environment before the course starts.
8 . What happens if the course is cancelled?
You will be informed personally before the course would have started. You can then either enroll in another online medical course at that time, or we can reimburse your fee.
9 . The enrollment system doesn't work, what can I do?

10 . What are the partner institutes Elevate is collaborating with?
Elevate's founding partners are University Medical Center Utrecht and Utrecht University. We also work closely together with our other partner institutes, such as, among others, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), COR2ED, MSc Epidemiology and Utrecht Summer School.
1 . How does the online application procedure work?
Once you have enrolled in the course, you will receive an email confirming your application. If your application has been successful and if you paid the course fee, the e-moderator will give you access to the Virtual Learning Environment before the course starts.
2 . I have applied for a course, when will I receive more information?
After enrollment, you will receive a confirmation email. The partner institute will review your application to see if you meet the entry requirements. The e-moderator will usually give you access to the Virtual Learning Environment a couple of days before the course will start.
3 . What happens if the course is cancelled?
In case the course will be postponed or cancelled, we will inform you as soon as possible by email. You can then either enroll in another online course, or we can reimburse your fee.
1 . How can I pay the course fee?
In the online enrollment system we offer 2 payment options: you can pay by Visa or MasterCard, or if you live in the Netherlands, by Ideal and by your employer via invoice. After successful enrollment, you will receive a confirmation email including the invoice. If you choose to pay via invoice, we will always send the invoice to you. Please forward the invoice to your employer. Please pay as soon as possible before the course starts.
2 . I have transferred the money, but the status of my application is still 'not paid', what should I do?
International wire transfers may take up to two or three weeks to process internally. After this period, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to enquire about the status of your payment. Please include a proof of the payment so that we can track your payment.
3 . Can you send me an invoice?
Yes, after your application has been approved, you will receive an invoice (PDF file) by email.
4 . What happens if I have to cancel my enrollment?
All cancellations must be received in writing. You may cancel/transfer your enrollment in a course: - without administrative charge: at least 30 days prior to the starting date of the Course. - with payment of an administrative charge of €125 if the cancellation is between 10-30 days before the course will start - No refunds are given in cases enrollment will be cancelled 10 days before, on, or after, the date on which the course starts. Occasionally, due to various circumstances, Elevate may change course schedules or locations or cancel a course without specifying the reasons thereof. If Elevate cancels the course in which you have enrolled and if Elevate is not able to reschedule you into another course that suits your needs, Elevate will refund the costs you have paid for the relevant course and will in no event have any further liability to you with regard to the cancelled course.
1 . Will I be able to interact with other participants in the online course?
Yes, Elevate encourages interactive learning. We offer online medical courses with interaction, guidance and support. Throughout the course, you will be guided by our e-moderator you will receive feedback from the lecturer and your peer students. In some courses, you'll also work on group assignments and/or wikis. 4 . Are there any language requirements?
All courses will be taught in English. To successfully participate in the courses, sufficient proficiency in English reading and writing is required.
5 . Are there any technological requirements?
Since our courses are offered online, you do need access to a computer with internet connection (preferably with a broadband speed of 2-5 mb per second) to access the Virtual Learning Environment, to follow lectures, open documents, to complete assignments and communicate with fellow participants. To watch the web lectures, you must have Silverlight Player (free downloadable). If Silverlight has not been installed on your computer yet, please install the Silverlight Player before the course starts (http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx). Some course videos are shown on an embedded YouTube player. To watch these videos, you will need to have installed a flash plugin.
1 . Will there be a final exam for all courses?
Most of our online health courses schedule a final exam, such as a written exam, a final paper or a specific assignment. Please visit the specific course page and the drop down menu ''examination'' for more information or contact us at email@example.com. The exams are not compulsory. However, if you want to receive the Academic Certificate and the EC (European Credits), you'll need to take the exam. You are allowed to redo the exam once.
2 . Do I have to travel to Utrecht to sit my exams?
You do not have to come to Utrecht to take the final exam. If you are willing and able to take the exam in Utrecht, the Netherlands, we are available to proctor the exam for you without any costs. If you have to take the exam from a different location, you need a proctor. This proctor may ask you to pay for their expenses. 3 . When will I receive course materials?
You will receive the provided course materials by Elevate before the course starts, by giving you access to the Virtual Learning Environment. However, please note that additional course material, such as required books, will not be provided by Elevate and are not included in the course fee. Please visit the specific course page and the drop down menu ''entry requirements'' to find out if you need to buy books or other course material.
1 . Will I receive an official certificate after successfully finishing the course?
You will either receive a Certificate of Completion or an Academic Certificate containing EC (European Credits, or ECTS) from one of the educational partners of Elevate. The type of Certificate awarded varies per course. Please have a look at the specific course page under ''quick overview''.
2 . How many credits will I receive for a course?
This depends on the course you will be participating in. The credits awarded for the specific courses are listed on the course page and the course overview page.
3 . Do I receive the Certificate by email?
All Academic Certificates that are issued by Utrecht University and MSc Epidemiology will be sent by mail to the address that has been registered in your account. Since these Certificates are official documents, it's not possible to send them by email. However, the Certificates of Completion for other courses will be sent by email.
