Dr. Cuno S.P.M. Uiterwaal is associate professor of clinical epidemiology at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care. He studied medicine at Utrecht University where he graduated in 1987. After a brief period of working in clinical cardiology, he started a research position in cardiovascular disease epidemiology at the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He obtained his PhD degree in 1995. In 1997, he started working as a clinical epidemiologist at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care.
Interests and Focus
Dr. Uiterwaal is (co) principal investigator of several clinical research projects. He focuses on studying early life determinants of later life chronic disease, particularly cardiovascular disease and respiratory disease. He is staff member of Julius Global Health and conducts research projects on cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and infectious disease in Asia.
