Pieterbas Lalleman is both a nurse and an organizational sociologist and works as PhD Candidate for the Research Centre for Innovations in Healthcare at the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht on a research project on the hybrid nature of the work of nurse managers and the influence of  professional habitus on their leadership in daily practice.

He gained his Bachelor of Nursing in 2000 and then studied at VU University in Amsterdam. For his master thesis he studied the diffusion of knowledge in teams of nurses and physicians and the role of trust and heedful interrelations.

Pieterbas began his career at the Onze Lieve Vrouwen Gasthuis Hospital in Amsterdam and later worked as a nurse manager at Ziekenhuis Gelderse Vallei in Ede. In 2006 he started as a nurse educator at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. In the academic year 2012- 2013, Pieterbas was a visiting research scholar at Pace University New York and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
