Jay Paquette

Dr. Jay Paquette is the Senior Study Director in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Division at CDRD. Jay holds a PhD (2007) in Psychology: Brain Behaviour and Cognitive Science from Queen’s University, Kingston, ON. In the beginning of 2008, he moved to Vancouver, BC to begin a Research Scientist position at Neuromed Pharmaceuticals where he built an in-house in vivo laboratory for testing novel pain therapeutics for pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety. In 2009 Jay pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at CDRD in the Pharmacology and Toxicology division, and was later hired permanently in 2010 as Study Director. As part of these roles he has been the lead researcher on a few CDRD-approved projects driving these projects towards commercialization, and expanded the CDRD’s in vivo resources to better leverage CDRD’s capabilities in driving the next generation of therapeutics into the clinic. Most recently in 2016 Jay was appointed as a member of the University of British Columbia’s Animal Care Committee wherein he advocates for and safeguards the humane use of animals in research and teaching at UBC and all affiliated locations.
