Ineke Molfrom The Netherlands
Ineke Mol enrolled in a Clinical Epidemiology course in 2013
For busy people like me this course offers good opportunities!
My name is Ineke Mol. I have worked as a general practitioner in a Health Centre in the Netherlands for 25 years. In daily practice I was captured by patient safety, and after a few projects I decided to start research on learning from incidents especially in handover situations.
When I started the distance learning course ‘Clinical Epidemiology’, I felt somewhat lost sitting all alone on the couch with my laptop. I doubted whether I had enough knowledge, and the course turned out a little more time consuming than I had expected. But gradually - thanks to the forum discussions and the possibility to ask questions to other students and to the moderators- I got more and more into the course and I was able to finish the exam with good results.
This course was tailored for me because I hardly have the possibility to follow full time courses due to the fact that I work on my PhD only half of the time. This way I could combine the course with other obligations. So for busy people like me this course offers good opportunities. It was nice to have contact with other students from other places although I had never seem them.

Thanks to the course I got insight into research questions and designs. The course offers an essential basis when you are starting research.
